On a recent employment application to a media company I have applied to over eight times I wrote, “I’m going to keep applying!” There is a prompt that says, “Let us know if you would like to share any additional information about your candidacy for this role.” Previously I have written sweet, informative, respectable answers. This last time I thought, “let's go for broke.” What comes to mind is the definition of insanity. I’m talking about the one where you do the same thing over and over and expect different results. The first couple of times I applied, I felt perhaps I wasn’t on their radar yet. On one occasion I finally got through with an interview (thank you, you know who you are.) But, after one zoom meeting that was it.
I’m a bitch. I’ll keep applying and keep applying and keep applying until my application is flagged. I’m turning on my heel. Every newsletter posted, every recipe written, every reel and video made is ultimately driving me closer to my dreams. I’m curious though, could I cut it in the test kitchen? Could I draft stories to be published and make it past the Editor-in-Chiefs desk? Do I have the ability to pitch a story so strong it makes headlines? I’m going to run a few pitches here and see if they burst out of this newsletter and get printed in bold on the newsstands.
